To earn some pocket money I caddied, at weekends, at Highgate Golf Club, in North London, in the 1960's. The club was very "high class" and was in easy reach of the West End (of London) where a lot of US visitors stayed whilst in London.
On one particular Saturday morning two Americans turned up to play and I was allocated to caddy for one of them. I looked at a tag on his bag and saw the name "McWhorter". During the round I overheard him talking with the other man about "Richard" and "Peter" and discussing "scenes" from which I gathered that they were talking about a film.
I later discovered that the other golfer was Hal Wallis (I recognised his name from the Elvis Presley films) and the film they were discussing was "Beckett" (i.e. Burton and O'Toole) which was currently being made at Shepperton Studios, near London.
Wallis was Producer and McWhorter was his Assistant on the film (although McWhorter was a much better golfer!).
