Rose McGowan was born on September 5, 1973, in Florence, Italy; to artist, Daniel McGowan, and French American writer, Terri. The McGowan family were members of the Children of God commune, and Daniel McGowan ran its Italian chapter. Hollywood’s Phoenix family, including River Phoenix and Joaquin Phoenix were also members of Children of God.With her striking looks, Rose became a child model, posing for Vogue Bambini and various other Italian magazines. When she was nine years old, Rose ran away from home in an attempt to escape the Children of God. One year later, her parents divorced, and she moved to Oregon and Gig Harbor, Washington, where she learned to speak English. Rose attended high school in Seattle at Roosevelt High, and at age fifteen, she became legally emancipated from her parents, and went on to pursue a career in the film industry, as well as enrolling in beauty school and working at her aunt's beauty salon as a back-up career.
In 1992, when Rose was nineteen, she landed a bit-role in the Pauly Shore comedy Encino Man. Three years later, her performance in the black comedy, The Doom Generation got her noticed by critics, and led to a nomination for Best Debut Performance at the 1996 Independent Spirit Awards. In 1996, Rose was cast as best friend to Neve Cambell's character Sidney in Wes Craven’s hit horror trilogy, Scream.
The late-90s saw Rose acting in mostly low-budget films, such as 1998's Southie, Going All the Way in 1997, and Lewis & Clark & George also in 1997. In 1999, she earned a nomination for Best Villain at the MTV Movie Awards for her performance in Jawbreaker, about a high school student who attempts to cover up a murder. She also juggled modeling along with acting, as the face of clothing company Bebe. She graced the covers of several magazines, including Seventeen, Interview, Maxim, and GQ. With her porcelain complexion and killer curves, Rose has been featured on the sexiest women lists for men's magazines such as Maxim, FHM, and Stuff. In 1997, she met and began dating shock rocker Marilyn Manson. The pair became a high-profile couple in Hollywood, standing out among the blonde and tan crowd with their gothic rock looks. In February of 1999, Rose announced on Howard Stern that the couple were engaged; however, by January 2001, they had called it quits.
The new millennium saw Rose landing the role of Paige Matthews on the Aaron Spelling series, Charmed. Brought in to replace Shannen Doherty, she starred alongside Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano from 2001 until the series ended in 2006. She was also chosen to produce the show after the seventh season, but turned down the offer. In 2005, Rose was cast as actress and singer Ann-Margret in the CBS mini-series, Elvis. Also in 2005, she joined the growing list of celebrities who are lending their voices to video games, as the femme fatale, Tala, in the PlayStation 2 and Xbox game Darkwatch.In 2006, Rose appeared in the Brian de Palma film The Black Dahlia, alongside Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhart, Scarlett Johansson and Hilary Swank. She also starred in the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez film Grind House, which was released in April 2007. Now, Rose will be appearing in 2009's Black Oasis and Douglas Aarniokoski's Red Sonja due for release in 2010.

Even though Rose grew up in the Children of God commune, she says she has no memory of anything Biblical.
RM: "I just remember doing crossword puzzles all the time. I don't remember answering a single Bible question ever."
Rose became legally emancipated from her parents when she was 15. In court the judge was very impressed with her as she didn't have a lawyer and represented herself.
RM: "I represented myself which, looking back was not a great idea, because it usually means you're guilty!"
As a child Rose was a voracious reader, she says it was her 'form of escapism'.
Rose has said she would love to be on Blue Note, or a really cool jazz label.
Rose has a couple of 8" x 10" publicity photos of Jane Greer, they are signed "Thanks for remembering me."
Rose suffers/has suffered from OCD and agoraphobia.
Rose hates and is terrified of fish, she won't eat them and will only reluctantly go in the sea because she is so afraid that a fish might brush against her.
Rose finds it very hard to commit to anyone or anything for more than a couple of years. Every year 'Charmed' got picked back up she would cry and she had to see a hypnotharapist because she was having really bad panic attacks. Charmed was shot in a place called Woodland Hills, so when the show was on hiatus, if Rose saw a sign with the word 'wood' in it, she would start having an anxiety attack.

Rose feels that she is in fact "a man with really great boobs."

Rose McGowan should have gotten the role of Mary Jane in the Spider-Man movies.Watch Planet Terror and other stuff she does and you can how similar she is to Mary Jane.The dopes Sam Raimi picked about the most unsexy,unexciting woman to play one of comics best female characters-sexy,snart ,funny,strong-all qualities Kusten Dunste dosen't have.Mary Jane was inspired by Ann Margaret and Rose played-duh.Does hollywood understand the characters they put in movies or do they just stupidly put anyone in a role-whether they fit the part or not ?

Rose I'm not going to kiss your ass, but I do think your a talented and sexy actress. I like the "no bullshit" factor you seem to have, and its always great fun to see your work. Your always seem to be up for just having a good time with what your doing and thats so much better to watch than forlorn junk like neighbours.
