Scarlett Johansson biography: On stage since the age of 8, Scarlett Johansson has been an actress her entire life. Born to a building contractor and a producer in New York, an 8-year-old Scarlett was thrust into the limelight in Sophistry, and off-Broadway show, alongside Ethan Hawke.
It was Johansson's memorable performance as Grace MacLean in The Horse Whisperer (1998) at age 14, however, that shot her into superstar trajectory which has continued through dozens of projects to date. Her impressive career in film includes roles in Manny and Lo (1996), Ghost World (2001), In Good Company, The Island (2005), The Prestige (2006), The Other Boleyn Girl (2007), and The Nanny Diaries (2007).
