(Click here for help.) | Teri Garr mini-bio: Teri Garr (born Terry Ann Garr in the later 1940s - sources disagree on her year of birth) has been an actress of note on television and film since the 1960s. While never a break-out star, she has played numerous roles (generally as naive and good-hearted women) in some of the best-loved movies of the last 35 years, including Tootsie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Young Frankenstein, and Mr. Mom. She has over 100 television credits to her name, most recently concentrating on voice work for animated series.
Teri was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999, and underwent brain surgery in late 2006.She recovered, attributing her good health to exercise and a positive attitude. She was honored during the first annual United Cerebral Palsy Research & Educational Foundation gala in 2007. To much fanfare, Garr and Letterman reunited on “The Late Show with David Letterman” (CBS, 1993- ) in June 2008, where the host, in a very moving moment, guided Garr to her chair, and then proceeded to show everyone that the magic between the two had not been lost over the years – including laying the flirtation on thick as always. In fact, Garr was there to promote a role in the drama, “Expired” (2008) in which she played twins. Her strength and positive attitude – as well as refusal to stop working – inspired many, whether they suffered from the disease or not. She was simply, a survivor in every sense of the word, and a lovable one at that. | VITAL STATS | | Eye color: Brown | | Height: 5' 7" | | Nickname(s): | | Notable feature(s): | | Education: | | Family: John O'Neil (ex-husband), Eddie Garr (father), Phyllis Garr (father) | | Resides in: | | Religious affiliations: | | Political affiliation: | | Personal interests/hobbies: | | Charities/Causes: | | Other: | | |
