Grate Actor and extremely HOT guy

With a lot of solid acting work behind him in both screen and theatre, including a particularly good "Heathcliffe" in a filmed version of "Wuthering Heights", there was never much doubt that Tim Dalton hads the acting chops to play James Bond. Actually, Dalton is the one Bond actor who most closely resembles the character as described by Ian Fleming. He is black haired like Bond and has facial bone structure that somewhat resembles that of early 20th century songwriter-performer Hoagy Carmichael, whom Fleming references sometimes in regard to Bond's appearance.
In my estimation Dalton makes a pretty good Bond, although he tended to play the character with more moroseness (and even. seemingly, a twinge of guilt at his own violence) than fit well with the overall tone of a James Bond movie. I told him once it would be better to lighten it up a little bit, but this came after Licence to Kill (which was a "rough" Bond anyway), and his "reign" ended there and the point became moot
