* Most of the footage from the opening credits is edited from footage from the TV show "Dark Angel" (2000), which shares a similar story line about genetically enhanced children trained as super assassins and soldiers. * Xavier Gens had shot a completely different train station platform sequence. It takes place outside the train station, rather than underground, and involves 47 questioning one assassin, rather than engaging 4 in a sword fight. * The scene where Agent 47 sits atop the roof, sniper in hand and red lettering behind him is taken directly from artwork from the game, as is the scene between 47 and Yuri in the bathtub, including the rubber duck. * During the restaurant sequence, the scene in which Nika (Olga Kurylenko) talks about owning a squirrel/chipmunk when she was young was actually true for the actress, and the scene was improvised during filming. * The character of Nika (Olga Kurylenko) draws inspiration from a recurring female character from the games known as Lei Ling (changed to 'Mei Ling' in 'Contracts'). Lei/Mei Ling was a prostitute that 47 saved on two occasions, receiving vital information in return. | | | Character Quotes & Catchphrases | - Yuri Marklov: [screaming] You bastard!
Agent 47: Yell all you like - the Lord himself won't hear you. - Agent 47: Because that suitcase perfectly holds my Blazer Sniper Rifle, two .45s and a gag for irritating, talkative little girls like yourself. You want me to stop and get it out?
Nika Boronina: I don't know - you think we have time for foreplay? - [last lines]
Agent 47: I told you to leave her alone, you should have listened. - Nika Boronina: These articles are full of shit, why do you buy these magazines?
Agent 47: For the advertisements. - Agent 47: Who was the client?
Agent 47: [silence from the laptop] Answer me! Who ordered the hit on Belicoff? Agent 47: [continued silence] If you set me up, I will find you and I will burn that building to the ground around you. |

* This film addresses the apparent continuity error in earlier installments - McClane is afraid of flying in the first two films, but not the third. Here, he explains that he took flying lessons in order to "face his fears."
* According to Bruce Willis and Director Len Wiseman in the DVD Commentary, the story originally involved McClane's son, Jack. Originally, he was supposed to be the computer hacker John has to deliver to the FBI. Eventually that idea was dropped and the hacker became the Matt Ferrell character. It was then decided to bring in his daughter Lucy to keep up the series continuity of McLane always having a personal stake in what happens in the story.
* In addition to the 'Agent Johnson' reference, several other elements from the first film are revisited as series trademarks. Among them are: crawling on broken glass, use of air-ducts, elevator shafts, and maintenance areas in corporate buildings, a henchman falling down stairs, an inquiry on the E.T.A. of a helicopter, and McClane's "Yippie Ki Yay' catchphrase.
* It took four months to assemble and complete the video montage of speeches from United States presidents. The goal was to create a video representation of a ransom note.
* Scott Speedman was Len Wiseman's first choice for the role of Matt Farell whereas Ben Affleck was Bruce Willis' first choice for the role. Willis wanted Affleck in order to recreate the chemistry between two characters previously accomplished in Armageddon (1998/I)
* Director Len Wiseman credits actor Timothy Olyphant (Thomas Gabriel) with coming up with the idea of how McClane kills Gabriel. In order to keep it a secret, the scene was not included in the film's shooting script. | | | Character Quotes & Catchphrases | - Thomas Gabriel: You're very impressed with yourself, aren't you?
John McClane: I have my moments. - Thomas Gabriel: Officer McClane, you have no idea what I'm capable of!
John McClane: You sound like a very scary guy. - John McClane: [covering the webcam] You think you can, uh, find a track where he is?
Thomas Gabriel: Detective, covering the camera with your hand does not turn off the microphone. - Thomas Gabriel: I can't talk this guy. You talk to him. See if you can get him to focus.
[hands cell phone to Lucy] Lucy McClane: Dad? John McClane: Hi, baby. Lucy McClane: Now there are only five of them. - Thomas Gabriel: [whispering, after discovering that the Warlock was hacking into his network] Fat bastard.
- [after Lucy struggles and shoots Emerson in the foot]
Thomas Gabriel: Jesus Christ. You got her? [Emerson nods] Thomas Gabriel: You're sure? It's a nice effort, though. - Robert Russo: [referring to Lucy] This bitch is a handful.
[Lucy punches Russo, and he slaps her back] Thomas Gabriel: [sarcastically to Russo] Are you gonna be all right? [to Lucy] Thomas Gabriel: Hey, behave, or I will hurt you. Lucy McClane: Oh, yeah? Let's step outside, just you and me. We'll see who hurts who. Thomas Gabriel: [smiling] You really are his daughter. - Thomas Gabriel: [about McClane] You're a Timex watch in a digital age.
- Thomas Gabriel: McClane? I thought I killed you already.
John McClane: I get that sometimes. - Thomas Gabriel: You know, John, I feel like we've gotten off on the wrong foot. And because of that, you think I'm the bad guy. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm the good guy here. I told them this could happen if they didn't prepare. Did I get a "Thank you"? No, I got crucified. But, they wouldn't listen.
John McClane: You got their attention now, don't you? Thomas Gabriel: That's right. I am doing the country a favor. John McClane: By tearing it apart? Thomas Gabriel: Better me than some outsider. Some religious nut job bent on Armageddon. Nobody wants to see that happen. Everything I've broken can be fixed if the country is willing to pay for it. John McClane: Ah, bullshit. It's always been about the money. Thomas Gabriel: What, I shouldn't get paid for my work? I'm working my ass off here, John. John McClane: Well, just sit tight, asshole. I gotta check for you.

* Originally titled, "Metal God"

* In the early scenes, the brother is a policeman for "Keystone"; obviously a reference or homage to the Keystone Cops (and he seems as effective as well - his Mom must "rescue" him from his little brother). | | | Character Quotes & Catchphrases | * Chris: I don't want to be in some cut-rate cover band that butchers the music the people come to hear, just so you can play your crappy originals! Rob: Crappy originals? I think "Whole and a half" kicks ass, and I'm proud as shit to have written it. Chris: Yeah? I guess that's why we get so many requests for it.
* Rob: Bradley's our new front man. Chris: You've made your point... now, get him... out. Rob: See this? This is the new PA he brought with him. Oh and that... that's the mixing board he brought with him too. Chris: Have you heard the voice he's brought with him?
* Chris: We are NOT a cover band, we're a TRIBUTE band! Rob: No Dude, WE are a cover band! Problem is, we've been covering the tunes, you think you're in goddamn Steel Dragon... I love you man but you're mental, you really are. You need to get a grip on reality, man, you don't know where Bobby Beers ends and you begin.
* Rob: Wouldn't you rather fail as yourself, then succeed as some Bobby Beers clone?
Character name: Detective Drycoff Appears in: Gone in 60 seconds Date(s): June 2000

* During the scene where Sphinx and Mirror Man are stealing the HumVee 2-Door Pickup, it was not originally scripted for the police car to fall off of the ramp. Vinnie Jones had pushed the stunt driver just a little off of the ramp but did not have enough room to drive the HumVee past. He gave it a little more gas and the HumVee smashed the car off the ramp. In the elevator afterwards Jones said to the stuntman, "That'll teach ya!"
* Seven Eleanor replicas were made for use in this movie. Five of them were totaled during stunt sequences. Nicolas Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer kept the remaining two. Cage regularly takes Eleanor out for joy rides while Bruckheimer is afraid of driving her.
* The scene where Sphinx, Vinnie Jones' character, takes out a knife to cut the dog open after they found out it ate the keys to the cars is a play off of the scene in Snatch where Vinnie's character, Bullet-Tooth Tony, is told by another character to cut a dog open after they are led to believe that it swallowed a diamond.
| | | Character Quotes & Catchphrases | - Drycoff: All gone, we didn't get a single one of them, and we are talking about professionals. No visible damage to locking mechanisms, steering columns, or ignitions, and as you can see, these are not Honda Civics. This is one of three brand-new Mercedes, a car they say is "unstealable."
- Drycoff: Who's Eleanor?
Det. Roland Castlebeck: It's a damn car. And don't ever talk about my wife. - Police chopper pilot: [after Memphis got away from the helicopter driving Eleanor] He's gone.
Det. Roland Castlebeck: GOD! Drycoff: Man this guy can drive! Det. Roland Castlebeck: What? WHAT? Drycoff: It's probably mostly the car... - Drycoff: What's up?
Det. Roland Castlebeck: What's the story with that HumVee? Drycoff: Gone. Det. Roland Castlebeck: Cadillac? Drycoff: Same. Where we goin'? Det. Roland Castlebeck: The only '67 Shelby in the area is registered at a place called the International Towers in Long Beach. Drycoff: Let's go to Long Beach. - Drycoff: Are you alright?
Bashed Cop: I think so... Drycoff: Are you sure? 'Cause, you just went through a wall.
