Umberto Lenzi was born on August 6, 1931 in Massa Marittima, Tuscany, Italy. Lenzi was known for directing low budget crime, thrillers, and cannibal films for over thirty years. He made his debut by directing "Queen of the Seas" in 1961. He would later direct two famed cannibal films, "Eaten Alive" in 1980 and "Cannibal ferox" in 1981 which were released to compete with another Italian director, Ruggero Deodato, who found success with "Jungle Holocaust" in 1977 and "Cannibal Holocaust" in 1980. Lenzi's "Cannibal ferox" actually ended up being banned in 31 countries so it only made it to limited audiences. His last film was "Sarayevo inferno di fuoco" in 1996. It seems he has retired since the release of his last film.
