He soon recovered, finished high school, and studied English language & literature at the University of London. He went through a challenge of over coming Hodgkin's disease at age 14. He soon recovered, finished high school, and studied English language & literature at the University of London. After finding his self back in Tennessee, he began work at a local theater where photographers David LaChappelle and Steve Klein came upon the brilliant actor. Qualls started modeling in ads for prada. Before long, Qualls made his first appeared in a movie, "Against the Wall" (1994) as an extra. However, he did not really make an impression until his role in 2000, "Road Trip". Qualls played a nerdy virgin and grabbed movie viewers attention. Following this movie, Qualls career took off. He performed in films "Big Trouble" (2002), "The New Guy" (2002) and "Hustle & Flow" (2005).
