Breckenridge's initial assignments largely consisted of guest roles on programs including Freaks and Geeks and Dawson's Creek, though she branched out into feature work in 1999 (at the age of 17) with a turn in the independently produced comedy Locust Valley, and thereafter alternated between additional acting work in Hollywood features and contributions to high-profile network series.
