From 1949-1957, she was married to director David Lean, who directed several of her films. Todd joined the London's Old Vic theater company in the '50s and appeared in a number of Shakespeare plays. In the mid-'60s, she began a second career as a maker of documentaries, which she wrote, produced, and directed. She published her autobiography, The Eighth Veil, 1980 and died in 1993. ~ Rovi
