He would work as a news anchor in Lynchburg, VA, before joining ABC News in 1975, carving out a niche for himself covering the House of Representatives. He would go on to help host World News Tonight, Nightline, 20/20, and Good Morning America, before hosting World News with Charles Gibson in 2005.
