He began with a supporting role as an immigrant to Britain in a BBC enterprise, director Julian Jarrold's four-hour epic miniseries White Teeth (2002), then teamed up with British cause célèbre Michael Winterbottom for another supporting turn in the sci-fi-charged psychodrama Code 46 (2003). Similar roles followed in projects representing a wide array of genres, including Martha Fiennes' ambitious ensemble film Chromophobia (2005), Kayvan Mashayekh's sweeping, family-friendly adventure drama The Keeper: The Legend of Omar Khayyam (2005), and Penny Woolcock's immigrant-themed ensemble comedy Mischief Night (2006).
