Upon completing his tour in the Marine Corps, Dan returned to El Paso where he continued his educational opportunities. It was during this time that he was hired to play the part of the Laughing Gunner in Courage Under Fire (1996). After completing his education, Dan returned to the service as an Officer in the United States Navy.
