The first wife of director Rex Ingram, Pawn had come to films in 1914 straight from business college courtesy of producer Pat Powers. She played comedy ingenues for Fox in the late 1910s but was usually overshadowed by her leading men, who in addition to the dashing Gilbert also included George Walsh, with whom she did five films, and matinee-idol Lew Cody.
