A native of Bedfordshire, England, O'Brien immigrated to the United States during her primary school years and received professional theatrical training from early childhood. Following a brief, two-year collegiate stint, a dissatisfied O'Brien moved to Los Angeles, where she obtained an agent and began signing for professional roles. Parts included series appearances on such programs as What About Brian and The Reality Show, and big-screen roles in features such as Séance (2006).
