Bio: A member of Mack Sennett's stock company at Keystone in the mid-1910s (although as far as can be ascertained, never a "Keystone Kop"), tough-looking Hugh Fay directed several Snub Pollard comedies for Sennett in the early '20s. Returning to acting later in the decade, Fay surprisingly turned up as Spider a nasty Lower Eastside gangster in Mary Pickford's incredibly popular Little Annie Rooney (1925). The role, which Fay played with a permanent sneer, may have taken his career in a whole new direction had he lived. Sadly, Hugh Fay died of stomach cancer a little over a year later.
