Upon his return to London, Hudson began co-directing a series of distinguished documentaries until 1970, when he teamed up with Ridley Scott to direct a number of television commercials. Five years later he founded Hudson Films and turned to feature films. He made his feature-film directorial debut with the Academy Award-winning Chariots of Fire (1981).
