Jacob Gimpel

Bio: Jacob Gimpel was an internationally known pianist, noted for his interpretation of Chopin. He originally studied piano with Alban Berg and Eduard Stuermann in Vienna and made his concert debut in 1923. Gimpel helped found the Israel Philharmonic (first known as the Palestine Symphony) in 1937. He emigrated to the US in 1938 and went on to appear in two films Gaslight (1944) and The Story of Three Loves (1943).
