Among the journal's most distinguished contributors are Godard, Chabrol, and Truffaut. Doniol-Valcroze made his own directorial debut in 1955 with short films and directed his first feature film four years later. Though his films were known for being intellectual, they never garnered much acclaim and have generally remained undistinguished.
