Shortly after, the 5-year old,skinny, blonde Jesse received the role of "Spencer", in As Good As itGets, despite the role calling for an "overweight red-headed 12 year old".For this role, he was given the Hollywood Reporter Young Star Award, forBest Performance by a Child Actor in a Comedy, in 1998. Jesse has beenacting ever since, and recently achieved critical acclaim for hisportrayal of Tommy Miller in the Butterfly effect, a disturbed teenagerwith violent tendencies. He continues to act, and plans on making alargely successful career out of it.He began playing guitar at age 14.He admires and listens to many classic rock bands, such as The RollingStones, Led Zeppelin, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.He has great knowledge of 1970's punk bands, such as The Ramones, The SexPistols, and The Clash (regarded as 3 of his favorite bands).He is also a highly devoted Nirvana fan.
