She began her acting career with a tenure NBC's family-oriented seriocomedy Mulligan's Stew, as one of several children in the overcrowded Mulligan household, but that program bowed two months after it debuted in October 1977, when it failed to connect with an audience. Haddock found greater success as the cute but tomboyish Cindy Webster on the first season of the NBC prep school sitcom The Facts of Life, and in the meantime branched out into supporting roles in feature films, with parts in the earnest Robert Duvall drama The Great Santini (1979) and the lackluster all-star comedy Scavenger Hunt (1979).
