Bio: German director Konrad Wolf, born in Hechingen, the son of playwright Friedrich Wolf, was only a boy when his family fled to Russia after the Nazi takeover in 1933. He served with the Red Army during WWII. Afterward he began studying filmmaking under such noted directors as Sergei Gerasimov and Grigori Alexandrov in Moscow.
