Barrett, a Brooklyn, New York native, began his professional stage career when he appeared in the McCarter Theatre production of The Stonemason. He studied acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While simultaneously continuing his education at NYU, he appeared opposite Judith Light in the national tour of the Pulitzer-prize winning play W;T.
Marking his feature film debut in KING OF THE JUNGLE, Barrett also had roles in the features SWIMFAN, RHYTHM OF THE SAINTS and THE FORGOTTEN, and wrote and starred in the short film THE HIGHS & LOWS OF MILO BROWN. On the television front, he guest starred on such series as THE SOPRANOS, MONK, LAW AND ORDER, LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, THE BIG HOUSE, IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, GHOST WHISPERER and was a regular on KELSEY GRAMMER PRESENTS: THE SKETCH SHOW.
Most recently, Barrett guest starred on the television series PSYCHE and had a two-episode appearance on the series SIDE ORDER OF LIFE. He also appeared in the short film LOVE CONQUERS AL. Barrett has completed roles in the features THE HURT LOCKER, MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL and is starring in the upcoming ABC sitcom BETTER OFF TED.
In addition to his film, television and theatre credits, Barrett has extensive experience in the areas of improvisational and stand-up comedy, as well as staged poetry readings and as a writer. He was a member of the 2001 Nuyorican Slam Poetry Team and winner of the Young Playwright competition at New York's Manhattan Class Company. He is also a founding member and artistic director of the non-profit theatre company Real Theatre Works, having directed the company's production of Fallen Patriots off-off Broadway and at the New York Fringe Festival.
