His most notable British television projects include 84 Charing Cross Road which received a nomination for a British Academy Award, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, and Casanova. His U.S. directorial efforts include the Emmy-winning PBS production of Eleanor: In Her Own Words, Showtime's Fairie Tale Theatre: Cinderella, Short Stories/Tall Tales (CBS). Cullingham became a director at Britain's National Theater in 1964 following studies at Worcester College in Oxford.
