In 1968, she showed up as Mrs. George Armstrong Custer in Custer of the West, which starred husband number two, Robert Shaw. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in the 1960 film version of Sons and Lovers, and starred in the London stage productions of such American plays as A View From the Bridge and The Crucible.
