Bio: Matthew Gray Gubler (born March 9, 1980) is an American actor, film director, sketch artist, and former fashion model.

The Las Vegas, Nevada-born actor made his début in the film The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004) as Intern #1, and now he is best known for his role as the young genius Dr. Spencer Reid in the CBS television show Criminal Minds. Coincidentally, his character on the show was also born and raised in Las Vegas. He also had a small role in RV as the disreputed Joe Joe. Gubler also worked as a model before becoming an actor. He has worked with DNA Model Management, Tommy Hilfiger, and numerous fashion designers. Matthew was interning for Wes Anderson at the same time he was modeling, and Wes encouraged him to audition for a part in his movie "The Life Aquatic". Gubler did, and landed the role of Intern #1.

Before graduating from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, he had already created several movies that were mostly filmed in his hometown of Las Vegas as well as New York City. His own films often deal with the macabre which may have foreshadowed his machete work in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.

He is the brother to fashion designer Laura Dahl.

He has recently been spotted in New York hot spot: Beatrice Inn.

Gubler is rumored to be the real-life antagonist in the song "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers, having briefly dated "Jenny" shortly after the band's lead singer Brandon Flowers; Gubler seems unsure of the rumor.

Gubler covertly directs and stars in a series of semi-popular self deprecating mockumentaries called Matthew Gray Gubler: the Unauthorized Documentary in which he parodies Hollywood behavior.

According to Japanese Vogue, Gubler recently directed, edited, and co-produced the music video for "Don't Shoot Me Santa" by the rock band The Killers. Gubler confirmed this during an interview about his recent work related to the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.

He is currently dating American actress Kat Dennings.
