Bio: Distinguished cinematographer Nicolas Vogel worked at MGM studios for most of his career and was particularly noted for his excellent black-and-white photography, a medium he used exclusively until the mid-'50s. In 1947, Vogel became in demand after he photographed Lady in the Lake. In 1949, he earned an Oscar for his work on Battleground. His brother, Joseph R.
