Born Lucien Noel in Paris, he got his start performing in music halls and cabarets. It was there he developed his Ademaï character in 1926. In addition to his live performances, Noël-Noël had been a bank worker, a Leftist cartoonist, and a writer of satirical songs. He frequently penned his own screenplays.
