Among Oscarsson's most widely seen movie performances was the title character in Doktor Glas (1967) and Pastor Toerner in The Emigrants (1972). In his later years, Per Oscarrson remained active in British, German and Scandinavian television. He died in a house fire at his farm in Skara, Sweden, on New Year's Eve 2010.
