In the talkie era, he scripted a couple of the early "Charlie Chan" entries, the oversized musical Stand Up and Cheer (1934) and the Spencer Tracy melodrama Dante's Inferno (1935). He was evidently "downsized" when Fox merged with 20th Century in 1935. Philip Klein's last screen credit was 1940's Pier 13, a remake of his 1932 comedy/drama Me and My Gal. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
