Varno was fluent in several languages and during WWII, he was placed in the Office of Strategic Services and appeared in several propaganda movies, including Hitler's Children. His linguistic versatility came in handy after the war and made him a popular radio performer in radio programs across the country. He made his last movie appearance in Istanbul (1957).
