Young came to the attention of Paramount Pictures when he played comedy bits in such early talkie shorts as Jack Benny's Taxi Tangles (1931). The actor achieved prominence of sorts as the ubiquitous stooge of W.C. Fields, beginning with his performance as Fields' obstreperous caddy in You're Telling Me (1934).
