He made his directorial debut in 1964 with Troublemaker, an independently-produced, largely improvisational comedy based on the humor of the Greenwich Village-based improv troupe, "The Premise." In between the two, he penned the screenplay for the Elvis Presley vehicle Spinout (1966). In 1970, Flicker won considerable critical acclaim for another satire, Three in the Cellar. He has since gone on to make television movies and the occasional feature.
