Mired in slapstick comedy despite several attempts to escape, Stedman later toiled in Universal "Star Comedies" and, from 1919-1927, for producer Al Christie. Often teamed with diminutive Bobby Vernon, Steadman was also Mack Swain's daughter in the feature comedy The Nervous Wreck (1926). Her career lasted well into the sound era but by then she had been relegated to bit parts.
