jap anime.has anyone seen war on genisis?i have most of the classics.akira, ninja scroll and ghost in the shell..i even have devilman..
what are your thought on the genre?
I wish films like "Grave of the Fireflies" and "Tokyo Godfathers" were better appreciated. To me, they have far more meaning that the more 'typical' anime titles (which can definitely get old -- fast).
One Piece, Hikaru no Go, Naruto and Bleach are the best!
Howl's Moving Castle is good too, its a detailed anime and really good quailty. I suggest Marchen's Awaken Romance its really interesting. Who love anime songs? Its the best!
I wanna get more into Anime. I've seen a few and loved them, but don't know which ones are considered the greatest ones of all time. Those are the ones I want to see. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I love anime. I admit I am an anime junkie. I have watched far too many lol but i love them so. My favorite series shows are naruto, bleach, melody of oblivion, chobits, love hina, one piece.
Really good movies are princess mononoke, appleseed was good, my neighbor totoro, spirited away was good, vampire hunter d. I suggest final fantasy advent children!!(kind of an anime but classified as CG anime)
If anyone else is as into anime as I am, send me a line. Nobody in my hodunk town likes anything except country music and farming.....ok its not that bad but seriously.
It’s interesting how the western mindset views anime as cartoons. If it’s not funny they’re usually not interested. Then of course and it seem to be a common theme for most Asian production houses to be overly dramatic, which will immediately turn of those only interested in the action aspects of anime.
Thankfully they are begging to mesh to two and make them more appealing for American audiences and the like. Sadly, the result is, more often than not, watered down version of the original script.
Films like; Akira, X, Ninja Scroll, are good examples of how to get it just right. But if you’ve seen Tri Gun or FLCL & Sailor Moon with English dubs and the English subs you see a big difference in the context of many scenes. While intended for children 10 and up, western markets (distributors not consumers) felt it to be too, adult oriented. Eastern & European markets don’t place as many taboos on its’ societies, giving directors greater freedom and richness seldom seen stateside. Things like Devil Man & Legend of the Overfiend had been temporarily pulled from American shelves
Ghost in the Shell is one of those rare ones that, gets away most of its content intact. But because of its’ subject matter of morality and self awareness becomes generally over-looked by the standard demographic of viewers. As the more main stream titles like; DBZ, Picachu, tend to overshadow all others giving the undeserved stereotype that anime as a whole has achieved.
i have saw:inuyasha, naruto, gunslinger girl, mai hime, ninja scroll, gun parade march, gun grave, samurai shamploo, samurai deeper kyo, peace maker kurogane, evangelion (classic) rah xephon, X tv, air tv, 2x2 shinobuden, rurouni kenshin (samurai X and OVA's), hunter x hunter, green green, noir, and much more........ jajajajjaajajja
