One of the most common suggestions we've gotten for a long time is that there should be a better way to meet people on Flixster with similar taste to you. Well here it is!
We also put in the ability to search for people near you too - which should be pretty cool - but it won't really be good until a lot of people enter their zip codes. (You can do that by editting your profile page now.)
This is a whole new thing for us so let us know what you think!
Note, the "Meet People" button isn't working properly. It doesn't pop up like the others.
That's an insignificant detail, what's more significant is that, when you put your mouse over it, then take it off, it disappears, and you have to reload the page to get it again.
This annoys, because you have to quickly click it if you want to use that function, or else if you give it a second's pause it'll disappear.
I noticed the same thing but still cool new options.
great idea, I was thinking they should give us the option to block people. If you keep this up this may be the only site I visit daily. Keep up the good work.
You can block other users. It's hard to see, but it's there.
The roll dice feature has been expanded and allows us to see more people, but it still doesn't show us the people who match our MCT scores the CLOSEST. I was hoping to see a bunch of soul mates, but I still see mainly "run aways".
Buttons: I think your browser is just doing weird image caching. Try clickign refresh and let me know if problem continues. (works fine for me right now...)
block user: Correct - we just added that. Forgot to mention it. Should make link bigger. Blame Saran.
Roll the Dice: I considered slanting roll the dice to bring back only high matches - but i sort of thought it got boring that way. Thought it was more cool to see the range of people out there and search a few times to find best friends or soul mates. Am interested in other people's thoughts on this...
I like roll the dice, I like the diversity. But maybe the first 5 - 10 results could be all soul mates, then the rest could be random? Just a thought. This site is freaking amazing, Joe! Keep it up!
But at the time of writing that complaint, it wasn't. So someone's fixed it, forgot to mention that they did, and made me look like a glitchy bitch. =P
I think you should make it optional, like maybe make a range of scores that you want to see, i personally would love to find a couple of soul mates, i am starting to thing there aren't any out there lol
I'd like to find a few soul mates too when I roll the dice. There are fewer people of my age group on here anyway, got nothing against finding younger friends but would at least be nice to know we like the same stuff.
Also the friends/soul mates/terrible match etc are only based on the MCT. Agreed this is a good way to start but if two people have rated the same films can't these count for the match too..... am I making any sense 'cos I'm not so sure that even I understand what I've just written.
1. yeah, i am pondering a way to bring more soul mates to the front. Don't want to just make it all soul mates though - diversity is interesting!
2. Yeah, would be neat to see "full compatibility" or compatibility on a list of movies you choose. Really want to do both - but its gonna take us a while as we have a lot of other stuff on the plate right now!
Hey, you guys are cool.... how many sites actually reply to your ideas and problems within 24 hrs if at all. OK don't expect things to happen over night but getting an answer is really something.

I don't see the point, as frankly, I rarely see anyone who even comes close to being even a "Casual Friend". Most people are "Bad Match"es or "Run Away Fast"s. This means it's completely random and completely pointless. How about setting it up so that it actually MATCHES people with SIMILAR tastes?
MopedRonin - my thinking was that its fun to find people both with very similar taste and different taste. So the way the Roll the Dice works is that it looks through about 100 users and tries to bring back a mix of some good matches, some bad matches and some people in the middle.
Still shouldn't take long to find a few people that you share a lot in common with...
hey, you guys rock! Haven't been on here for long, but i'm already lovin' it. I think the roll the dice thing is quite good, i like the variaty of people it gives me the chance to meet. Anyway, keep up the great work!
Well, I don't know much about this site. Actually a friend of mine told me to check it out due to the fact I watch alot of movies. So I guess this forum allows myself and perhaps alot of others to talk to people on this site. As for me I would like to just talk about different movies and perhaps get their perception of the movie. So thanks maybe this way I will meet people on here.
