Some of my favorite westerns are Rawhide,The Good the Bad and the Ugly,For a Few Dollars More,Hang em High,A fistful of Dollars,Riders of the Purple Sage,The War Wagon,Tombstone. But also chekc out my profile for all my other favorite movies and invite me as your friend.
I havnt seen a great deal of westerns but I would have to say some of favorites are: Open Range, The Quick and The Dead, and The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Dances with Wolves, Open Range *last great western*, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, and Quick and the Dead's not bad either. Although a bit strange and different.
THE QUICK AND THE DEAD!!!
Directed by Sam Raimi!
Starring.... Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russel Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lance Henrickson, Gary Sinise, Keith David.
It has some of the greatest camera work seen in any movie.
It's about vengeance and redemption set around an awesome gunfighting competition! Check it out!
Most people dont even know about Lonsome Dove because it was a miniseries but it's pretty awesome. Check it out cos all this modern stuff is mostly crap.
Actually, in the past couple years, Open Range was an overlooked, really well done western. It's too bad more people didn't see this one.
My other favs include...
Man with No Name Series
Tombstone (my personal favorite)
Unforgiven
High Noon
The Magnificent Seven
The Unforgiven
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Shane
Winchester '73
The Man With No Name trilogy
Rio Bravo
More recently Open Range and -though not a western set in the 1800's it has major western overtones and influences- The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.
I dont like western movies at all because they are boring. Im more into the twentieth century movies. Yes. Action, Horror etc. So western isnt my kind of thing at all because western is boring.
Some of these probably really aren't westerns, but they're cowboy movies. Does that count?
Young Guns!(DUH!)
Dances With Wolves
Wild Wild West
The Cowboy Way
Cowboy Up
