Hi Eugene, the Never-Ending Quiz seems to hang on me. Its always stuck on "Retrieving next question...". I checked out the FAQ and I do have Norton Anti-Virus/Internet Security installed. What should I do ?
If you are using antivirus or security software like Symantec/Norton, please change Norton's settings by adding us to Norton's list of "permitted" websites for popups and advertisements (we generally don't use popups, but Symantec seems to disable all of our functionality anyways :(.
I'm having trouble with the question adding part - I have a question pending and i wish to change its image to a brighter copy, but when i click preview it says i do not have the right to edit it.
I've had trouble where I answer a question, it'll move onto the next but it won't tell me if I get the previous one right or not!
It doesn't always do this and I keep forgetting to make a mental note to see if I'm still earning the points!
I'm having a problem where seven of my fifteen submitted questions have been pulled without reason. If someone can make a fallacious statement about "THE GHOST IN 3 MEN N A BABY" and I get it wrong because I know the answer and they don't, I can see it being removed. But to remove perfectly good difficult questions without giving a reason is annoying.
Cancelled Questions (TheSuccessfulHobo): Thanks for your post. Yes, it is annoying to have a question cancelled. However, the never-ending movie quiz is a community driven game, and we let their votes decide which questions to keep.
Won't Tell me the Answer to Previous Question (mirree): Thanks for your post mirree -- yes, sometimes when you submit your answer to a question, it doesn't always make it to our server (sometimes the internet drops it ;). But rest assured, if we never received your answer, we'll (eventually) give you the same question again later.
Microsoft vs. Firefox (prhirstuk): thanks for your post, Frank: sometimes browsers store a local copy (or 'cache') of our website. When we make enhancements or upgrades, the website might not work for users with an old 'cache'.
Internet Explorer doesn't always correctly figure out when to use (and when NOT to use) its cache. If you occasionally have problems with your quizzes, click the browser refresh button and see if that fixes the problem. Or, delete your cache (warning: this may take several minutes if you've never done it before), and this might also fix your problem.
Problems editing a quiz question (s1lv3rbull3t): Thanks for your post Matthew. You said that when you clicked the preview button on a quiz question you submitted, it said that you didn't have the right to edit it? Do you have the quiz question number? Can you send it to me privately so I can take a closer look?
Just for people whoa re unsure of how to empty their cache, I've written step-by-step instructions:
If you use Internet Explorer (IE), you can do this by clicking Tools (at the top), Internet Options, click on the 'General' tab on the window that pops up and now in the middle section that says 'temporary internet files' click on the button that says 'Delete Files...'.
If you use Firefox, click Tools (at the top), Options, then click on the tab that says 'Cache' and select Clear Cache Now.
Warning! Like Eugene said, this can take a while if you've never done it before. NO your computer is NOT frozen, it is simply deleting all the files that you've collected from the internet - so if you have lots it can take a LONG time to delete them.
Hi! Sometimes when I try and post a comment/message on talk, I get a message popping up saying, enter comment first, even though I have put in a message?
I can't delete questions that have already been cancelled. when click on delete then ok on the pop up it says it has been deleted and gives me options as to where I can go but when I look at my list it is still there
I know I am going to sound very dumb. But I have tried playing around with my norton settings to allow the quiz to work. But it still will not work. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to change to allow the quiz to run?
I just got a question about "which film does Paris Hilton get murdered by a skewer through her head?" I selected The House of Wax 2005 and it told me it's wrong and the person that created this has said that the 1953 version is correct.
How do I report it as a bad question after I've answered it?
It's annoying to know I'm right and they're wrong (and it's not often I'm 100% sure!)
Someone posted a bullshit answer...they asked, "What actor has never been killed in a film" & the answer was Clint Eastwood...apparently that person never saw The Beguiled...shithead....
