yes, there have definitely been a few changes in the quiz. Quite a few of my questions have "retired" this week. They were all good ones too, been answered several thousand times and only about 50% correct with lots of thumbs up. So I presume it's a case of them having been around long enough?
It's not so much a problem, more of an annoyance...
But when I chat to people on the quiz page, my writing doesn't type at normal speed, instead it types each character slowly, one at a time (Like a typewriter would type o_O).
Probably doesn't make any sense, but I'm sitting there like 2 minutes, for a 5 second response, just waiting for it to stop typing so I can click 'save'.
At first thought maybe it might be because I have dial-up, but was speaking to someone else on there, who said it doesn't happen to them, who has dial-up at their house. :s
It sounds like your computer is having memory issues. I'm not exactly sure how you could rectify it, but it never hurts to delete temporary internet files from your browser settings fairly frequently.
I would agree with memory issues. Press control + alt + delete and click on the performance tab. the CPU usage meter should be fluctuating, but never reaching 100% and the PF Usage meter should be less than the amount of physical RAM you have. (eg, if you have 512 MB of ram, the PF usage should be below 512).
If it is higher than that, try closing some open programs and it will go down.
is there a reason the create a question link has started to appear in the actual question box? it seems to be pushing the rest of the text to the right

Any suggestions/queries?
One of thee reasons might be all the people using the quiz at the same time. Or, it might just be that your internet connection is having some problems. But I find it impossible to talk in there, it's always too crowded. =/

Helpful suggestion, but that wouldn't be the problem. The problem is almost certainly the amount of RAM on the users computer. Because of all the nifty scripting in the quiz, lower end computers get bogged down quite easily.
I'm curious on the exact number of thumbs downs necessary for a question to get pulled, and if the ratio between those and the thumbs ups comes into play; right now there's usually only a 2 or 3 vote difference on whether people think it's a good question or not. So, is the pull decision just an automatic "50 people thought this was a bad question because it wasn't about Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, Hilary Duff, Linsday Lohan, or High School Musical" thing, or does the fact that people who actually appreciate challenging questions are also ranking it highly come into play?
I recently changed computer and use Safari Browser as I have a Mac......the quiz is ok but the chat below never updates and stays the same so I can't chat to anyone! ; ( Any way of fixing this?
