There are lots of remakes on Asian movies, especially in horror genre. For example The Grudge, The Ring, Pulse, The Lake House, Shall We Dance?..... and the latest one would be The Eye. Is Hollywood running out of ideas? Why can't they just let the original enter their market?
Yea forgot 2 put dat 1 in. I haven't watch the infernal affairs, but am looking forward it. But i have 2 say the ideas 2 persons 'undercover' on the other side of the law is cool n original. Something that dear old hollywood haven't thought of. If anyone knows the other asian remakes, feel free to post it here. And compare it to the original.
A Tale of Two Sisters (Korean) and Battle Royale (Japanese) are also getting the Hollywood treatment.
Godzilla already got it! I still prefer men in suits throwing each other around a mini-city rather than the remake lol
Edited to say Oldboy (Korean) is also getting the US treatment and has already got the non-musical Bollywood treatment and apparently this was a big ruckus because the director never gave credit to the original...
the only reason for all these remakes is because americans cant watch a film that has subtitles ( that would mean going to watch a film and having to do something as tough as reading ) and dosnt have an all american sweetheart girl in the starring role ( and i think it may boil down to a race thing that most of them wouldnt admit to ) every remake i'v seen has done no justice to the original, i wish they'd stop and try to come up with something new and fresh
No, No and NO, Battle royale cannot and wil not work, the other remkes also pale in comparison, oldboy will aswell, even though it will star one of my favourite actors in it.
I am surprised that Hollywood even has the guts to remake something as controversial as Battle Royale. Are they gonna use real high school kids in the movie? It would be retarded if they had adults play the kids.
... but from what I've seen from Hollywood recently, the remake will probbly be really lame.
