It looks like they will do a fourth X-men,it will probably be after the films they have in production now for 2007 & 2008. They asked the fans on the X-Men 3 site, about carrying on with more films. The majority of fans said they should, they still have lots of stories to do.
I did a Google News search and it said that Bryan Singer had been approached to direct X-Men 4. But he probably won't because it will clash with the filming on the Superman Returns sequel, but he's apparently interested in the Wolverine spin-off.
Sorry to dissapoint but no, there's no X4 coming our way. We'll have to settle with the upcoming "Wolverine" and "Magneto" films. And whoever wrote that Apocalypse should make an appereance if X4 ever gets made, stick to your comic books.
The powers that be say that there will be another X-Men movie. Because of the money part 3 made, and because of the scene after the credits, they are going ahead with a fourth. Don't expect many of the older mutants, especially Wolverine (he's got his own movie coming), they want to focus on the younger ones. They've already lined up the names of the stars they want, and the new characters they are adding.
There isn't going to be a sequel to the first three, but I heard that they are going to make more that follow a completely different story line that has nothing to do with the ones we have already.

Thats right, the movies are going to be solo stories of individual characters (though no doubt the other mutants will appear)
So far I believe they plan on doing a Wolverine movie and a Magneto movie.
Well to anyone who reads comics its a well known fact that dead people enver stay dead :P.
Wolverine for example has probably died a dozen times by now.
Anyways, in the comics it turns out that the cure isn't permanent, so if they do continue the series then thats probably what will happen (as we can guess by the ending of the last movie).
Although from what I heard, the individual stories are supposed to be looks into the past of the characters rather than the future. So we might see the creation of wolverine at Project X and whatnot.
Exec producer Lauren Shuler Donner reports that renegotiations will be in order for the fourth installment of the big-screen sagas. "The newer cast members are signed, and the older cast members are not." Considering the older names involved -- Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin -- that could run into a huge chunk of money.
Movies.com said Xmen 4 would focus more on the younger generation, but that was back in August.

Really, though, they literally killed the series when half of the original Xmen died in Xmen 3, and, besides the Professor, I don't see any logical way of bringing them back from the dead.
