Flixster now has a news tab - and just like almost everything else on the site, the hope is that what counts as "news" will be driven by the community.
Here is how it works:
1. You find a story about a movie/actor related topic anywhere on the web - post it to flixster with a short description and link.
2. Everyone votes on the top stories each day with the most popular bubbling up to the top.
3. That's it - hopefully we'll get some really interesting fresh stuff submitted every day.
Give it a try and let us know what you think.

p.s. Yeah, its sorta like "digg.com" for anyone who has ever used that site - but focused on movies!
Is it the system? or is it the "society"? heheh! Maybe its a bit of both.
Just keep postin news CL, you do have a couple of news posts that Ive read and voted on, but some ppl dont really see em right away. Share em to your flix friends mi lad! Go forth and spread the good newss!! Ahahaha!! 8D!! *Nutterz!*
"I have just been doing this for a very ,very long time and maybe people consider me reliable"
For someone who has been doing this a long long time you're not very serious. I check the "recent added" section at least, before submitting something.
Theres some good points by here some very good points what probablly happens is Lisas friends probablly put thumbs up well thats what friends do.
Then half of your friends might not know that you submit stories so you will not be getting a thumb up by them.
Also it does go by how much time you spend on submitting stories everyday like as I have said I have seen some of Lisas stories and yours and there are some good stories.
If you want to get some of your stories top maybe it would be a good idea to ask your friends to vote for yours because both of you deserve to get your stories in the top.
"You're missing the point. I don't mind if my submisions don't make the top news, I do however get a little annoyed that my submissions systematically get voted down and that some people repost the same stuff later. "
I was trying to point out that I also get annoyed when my stories get repeated too, but it happens to a lot of other people too.
V_V .... I like both your news topics, thats it. I vote on whichever I see first and if it tickles my fancy.
On repeated news posts, perhaps you can all look as your selves as news competitors.. but compete in a good/healthy way pls.. like one paper might sell better than the other..
People may say something out of bounds in the heat of an argument, depends on how they interpreted the message and/or how they felt about what they read. Its normal. People are prone to errors.. Nobodys perfect. In the future lets not jump to conclusions and point fingers as not a single one of you really know each other in real life.
I think its about time we got this thread back ontrack and stopped all the personal attacking.
No more please, Flixster is suposed to be a fun site, any furthur attack messages will just instantly be deleted.
thanks
Well is there some way people can screen the news stories so that they don't get repeated...because I don't think looking at the recently added section is working...
It'd be nice if Flixster decided whether it would like to be a movie site, or TMZ. I would think people who are so inclined could get their tabloid fix elsewhere. Also, if you're going to be specifically a movie site that doesn't include TV in its ratings, why would you include TV news at the expense of more movie news?
Maybe there should be some kind of screening process that's out of just the users hands. Some people try to use this site as a second myspace, I assume it wasn't intended to be that.
UGGGHHHH Seriously News stories need to be screened so that they don't get repeated because I was the first one to report on the first New Moon Stills and a couple hours later and Sexxivixxxen uploads the same story. And Now my story has a bunch of thumbs down and hers has a bunch of thumbs up, and it's annoying. And I know she'll upload the photos, even though I already have.
So annoying. If my stories are going to get thumbed down, then the ones that get repeated should too.
Like here's a suggestion, how about you appoint someone to check the news stories, let's say hourly (or whatever works best) and just quickly look through each one and every time one gets repeated, they DELETE IT.
Yes I agree if threads get repeated they use to get deleted.
so why not news stories?
I'm sure theres some admin who lurks through them every
now an again though or if you report them then they will check.
