Hi ^.^ my name is Avery, and I haven't been here even a week yet, and I'm still a fledgeling Flixster user. ~shy smile~ I'd appreciate your thoughts on the above topics, no matter how irrelivant. ^.^ just keep it polite please ~smile~ this is my first attempt at a thread, so wish me luck ~gives you all flowers~ ^.^
aww, im srry u say that. V.V ~gives u a flower~ anyways, thanks on your input. it was actually enlightening, even if u didnt want to contribute ~hugs~ hope u hav a great night. ^.^
Id say that I dont like those people who try to put us into categories, and make generalizations about how were all sex crazed, and flirt like heck when we find another lesbian. and I HATE guys who make obscene jokes about my sexuality ~starts to cry~ i hav to put up with that just about every day
on the other hand, i really dont like those of us who force our opinions on heterosexuals. i said to someone earlier that id never run through the streets yelling "I'm a lesbian, and I'm proud of it!!". because honestly, when was the last time you heard someone yell out "I'm straight and I'm proud of it"? that could probably come off as offensive to lesbians. so I really dont want to be overprotected, just respected.
I think it should be as simple as "I like red" and "I like blue, but I think it's okay that you like red. Not awesome, not horrible, but okay". I know that doesnt' make a lot of sense, sorry.
And I wish I could explain why i like girls. I really do. then maybe i could figure out why i am what i am. but i just.... do. it's like me asking you why you like girls. not trying to be offensive, but really its a hard question to answer, you know?
yes, i have. we all have. its human nature to try to group people into categories. perhaps this makes things simpler for us to keep track of. but each person is different, and i really dont even want to think of it in terms of putting down a minority. id rather think of it in terms of putting someone down based on something that doesnt determine their value as a person.
Sexual orientation is a little more complicated than favouritism of colour though, wouldn't you agree?
As for knowing why I'm attracted to females, I'm not.
So yeah. I know how you feel.
I'm just curious - because if there is someone out there who does know, I'd sure as hell like to as well.
this is turning into quite a topic, for something so over hyped. ^.^ im actually learning things. and i think that it is over hyped. i wish it could be as impartial as picking crayons out of a box. i dont want to be thought of as strange because i like girls, but i dont want to be treated as special because of it either. i want the majority of people to realize that which gender i prefer has no bearing on my value as a person.
"id rather think of it in terms of putting someone down based on something that doesnt determine their value as a person."
I like that. It was well said. But let's flip it.
You're a lesbian, check.
You'd prefer it if you weren't frowned upon because of that fact.
Would you prefer the fact go amiss, or acknowledged with a smile, and a pat on the back for being honest?
O_O ooo, i made an assumption of your sexuality then. see? we're all human. ^.^ I like to realize that people are guilty of generalizations, but that i am too sometimes.
i think i would like a smile and a pat on the back, but i dont think that that would be fair. id rather that it didnt go unacknowledged, but that its also not all that important. i mean, it doesnt bother me who i like, its just a crayon color to me ^.^ and that view might not necessarily be right, i dont know.
u really hav a head on your shoulders, you know that? ~hugs~ thnx for being understanding about all of this ~gives u another flower (a purply blue one ^.^)~
I think it was plato who said that our ability to question is what makes us wise. ^.^ its not realizing how much we know, its realizing how much we dont know.
