After I've seeing the 90minutes cutscenes of MGS4 from beginning to end, I can't play any other games.
I only played the game for like 15 minutes at work ^_^
Other games seem so... insignificant, shallow and commercial.
I loved the final boss battle, linear and generic but it was bloody awesome.
The epilogue was just EPIC, probably the best directional cutscenes, cinematics and quotes ever.
PS: and don't even compare it to FF or GTA, this isn't just a game - it's much better: great gameplay and the best story ever.
The control system along with the camera system where improved, you can focus on an action-type or else a stealth based strategy and it fits pretty neat.
The story was good enough for a video game, the plot is surely messy, but what I liked most was the last cutscene... I found that very very deep... you see it in movies, but it was the first time I felt a true emotional feeling in a game (and yes I did play FF7, it wasn't the same - I'll check out Crisis Core though)
Cutscenes tend to be long and annoying yes, but the action can be viewed from numerous aspects so its not that annoying.
I'm not saying that this is the best game ever, far from it - there is no best game - just favourites. MGO sucks ass in my opinion, but Metal Gear Solid 4 was one of the best stories ever in a video game -not the plot, if you do love movies you'll understand that a good movie doesn't need a good plot to function well- the narration, the way the game is told, the presentation.
Further more, I liked MGS4 because it offered quality gameplay, again I didn't play it much but the stealth is probably one of the most innovative out there.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is most certainly the biggest game on the Sony Playstation 3 period. The game surpasses alot of things in alot of areas. One thing has to be is the graphics. Game series creator Hideo Kojima assured that he and his team would push the very limit of the PS3 and the Blu Ray Disc format. In success he very much did. The amount of detail this game had in it surely was mesmerizing.
All the way from the characters to the enemies and even environments sported tons n tons of detail. It really was something to look at(especially in 1080 P). Another change was the gameplay. With the emphasis on "Nowhere to hide" meant that Kojima had to think of new ideas. One of them is using a camo suit that blended into the environments around you. The trusting suit enabled snake to camo along the areas he lays on to fool passing sentries.
It really makes the game fun to play and make me forget about the camo system in MGS 3. Another great addition is the behind the camera view. with this means everything around you can be seen so it gives off different strategetic plans throughout. one last great addition is the ability to buy weapons and modify them after obtaining them from enemies.
In past games you couldn't use enemies guns so it made it much better this 4th time around. Storywise the game filled in alot of missing gaps. It answered alot of unanswered questions and successfully closed all doors to the series. This was a great final chapter to the long running series.
Yea but the thing is this. Each installment offered great storylines and scenarios so noone should care if it is ripped off. I liked how it showed how snake progressed through each installment and is now an old person tired from war. Metal Gear Solid 4 offered up an amazing gaming experience. It was high on story but the gameplay that was there trully made up for it.
Hideo Kojima said that there would be more Metal Gear titles but they would be spinoffs off of the series. Possibly more stories on Big Boss and his origins on how he became corrupt. Hideo Kojima did say though that he won't be in the director's chair on the spinoffs but rather a producer instead. He is now focusing on the Metal Gear Solid motion picture which is scheduled to hit production sometime next year.
Um no big Boss became corrupt. If you played the very first Metal Gear on the NES then you would see why. He basically betrayed Solid Snake and wanted to have his own uprising. He used the patriots as an excuse but in all reality he was evil. He just turned out to be good to Snake at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4 because he knew he didn't have much life in him and was going to pass.
In the inevitable part 5 it could be yet another chapter in Big Boss' life and show how he became bad.It most certainly won't involve Solid snake so it is quite obvious it would be about Big Boss.
It was a looooonnnnggg time ago since I played the first NES.
But that was a long time ago, and the Original MGS showed Big Boss as an evil character, but pretty much, its was the way things were done. Just as THE BOSS became a traitor and sacrificed herself to let Naked Snake do the job right, Big Boss started the war against the Patriots, to which Solid takes over from Sons of Liberty to Guns of the Patriot. The rivalry between Liquid and Solid, the various Metal gear designs and the gene therapy Les Infants Terrible project was all used to distract the Patriots, the main perpatrator being Ocelot, the vicitims being everyone else from GrayFox to the various mercenaries such as Dead Cell and Fox Hound.
As they say, it "was all part of the plan" to bring out The Patriots.
Which turned out to be a ghost in a shell in the end.
I have the Materia system beat with The Magicite System. *Pulls out Gilgamesh Magicite and summons Gilgamesh who uses excalibur to hit connor for 9999 damage.*
but in all seriousness I say that MGS4 was great. Even the Mantis references. But Anyone else see the MGS1 FoxHound Tie ins other than Mantis. It's to obvious.
