Terminator 4 has been on my watch ever since it was announced after Terminator 3. Originally the film was set to be shot back to back alongside Terminator 3 but it was insisted to give the films a gap that way it won't feel rushed. T4 has been under many rewrites due to the fact Arnold Schwarzenegger went in to be governor.
After 5 or so years it is good to finally see this film surface up. The storyline is supposedly set right after Judgement Day and revolves around John Conner and his Wife fighting alongside the resistence against the machines. Supposedly the timeline the film is set in doesn't show the human modeled androids but instead the rubber skinned ones.
This all remains interresting especially to the fact that Christian Bale is set to play john conner. the fact creature creator Stan Winston recently passed kinda bums me out due to the fact he is the one who provided props to all the terminator films. even if production is rushed I am very excited to see this next year.
Yeah, without Arnie it won't feel the same, but I am still looking forward to it. So it's gonna show a lot more of the dark future here? That's good. And the rubber skinned terminators, those are the T-600s that were mentioned in the first movie, right?
You are 100 percent correct Matseb. You would most likely see what Kyle was talking about in the first film. It would show how he was a slave to the machines and how the machines gathered humans as prisoners. The film would show Arnolds model under schematics and how the rubber skinned models would appear throughout the film as well. In The Sara Conner Chronicles(which was a well written show) it shows in one episode on how Kyle Reese was captured by Skynet and held prisoner in the far future.
Season 1 is penciled to hit DVD and Blu Ray this october so I highly reccomend you watch it before Seaon 2 airs. The film would as well center on John Conner and how he must aid this rebel played by Sam Worthington that he believes was sent from the future or something. Besides Bale and Worthington it is said that Ron howards daughter Bryce Dallas Howard is to play john Conner's wife. In Terminator 3 she was played by Claire Daines.
Another good piece of info is that Christian Bale is set to star in Terminator 5 and 6 as Conner. In Terminator 2 and 3 John Conner was played by different actors so this right here is good news to me. The only gripe I have with this is that the film is PG-13. The producer said that it would still maintain it's dark storyline even if it has the PG-13 rating attached.
Also one last gripe is that just recently creature creator Stan Winston passed away so it possibly did somewhat affect the film in the production department that is.
The dvd release of the "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" is scheduled for August 19th.
I'm excited for the next trilogy. I'm glad that they're going to dive into more of the future stuff with the movies. And the rubber-skinned droids will be interesting to see.
Oh I thought the set was scheduled for october. well anyhow it was an amazing show which only gotten 9 episodes instead of 12(damn writers strike). It questions me to when Season 2 airs on TV. Well anyhow about the movie. No Arnold would not be in the film. It was rumored he would get a small cameo (which is a possibility). It is stated that the ending of the film would have a big twist so never know what could happen.
Again the fact the Stan Winston passed hurts the film somewhat. He was the man who brought the Terminator to life. In Terminator 1 he provided all the animatronics and helped create Arnold into a cyborg. In T2 not only did he provide more help to Arnold's character but also helped create the T-1000 which Robert Patrick played. Winston walked away with an Academy Award for Best Make up that year. In T3 he helped provide props for the TX machine as well as the T1's which were the small miniaturized tanks.
The fact they were fully remote controlled really made the film work somewhat. In Terminator 4 winstons production role really wasn't known at the time on what he provided help with. His involvment was there before he passed away a week ago. The other thing that concerns me is that McG is directing this film.
With a history on films such as Charlies Angels 1 n 2 questioned me to why Warner Brothers hired him to direct number 4? It was said that McG and james Cameron talked before production started. Possibly that means something good can happen with it.
I am very aware of the title. I perfer not to call it that and instead just Terminator 4. When I first read the official title I was like wtf? It really didn't sound like terminator to me thats for sure.
Yeah, I can't wait till Terminator TV series come out on DVD. I've watched about half of the episodes from it. Didn't get a chance to see the others, so I really want to buy it. And it's great that season 2 will be in the making soon.
A new Terminator trilogy? Sounds like it's becoming like Star Wars now.
Well basically T 1-3 told the story of machinesbeing sent through the future to the past. T 4-6 would tell of the future war and how the machines took over the world as it was originally said. James Cameron wanted to sorta end it with T2 but supposedly he had a screenplay originally for T3. Knowing hollywood on how cheap they could be they didn't accept the screenplay whatsoever.
Instead they hired new writers to sorta turn it into an average action flick. James Cameron had no involvment whatsoever with 3 and that is why sales weren't spectacular. In T4 it is said that McG and James Cameron have been talking over the phone before production started on T4. It was said that James Cameron reccomended Sam Worthington for the Terminator 4 film to McG and that is how Sam Worthington gotten the lead role aside of Christian Bale.
As for the Tv series I didn't miss a single episode. I was as matter in fact how well written it was. It was picked up by war of the worlds/co screen writer and Black Dahlia Screenwriter Josh Friedman. He initially put together the series plot and gave it an alternate timeline seperate from the movies. It was a unique show but thanks to the infamous Writers strike we were given 9 episodes instead of 12.
My lucky gues is that season 2 would start a little after august. That explains why the show would be hitting DVD and Blu Ray at that time. Anyone who has not seen Sarah Coner Chronicles I highly suggest you do. If you are a fan of Terminator like I am thats another plus right there
WOW... The idea of an ending like that could well be...cool. It never crossed my mind something like that could go on in a terminator movie but if true then possibly it could work. The fact it is PG-13 just kills me but the producer said in an interview online that it would still be Terminator and have the dark element to it.
Also without Arnolds involvment could also somewhat mean trouble for the film as well. It was him that made the trilogy and seeing him gone from it sucks badly. He could show up in 5 or 6 so my fingers are crossed right there. I hope McG doesn't sign on for a 5 and 6 but if he does then god knows how the rest would be.
As for the TV series. If it is true that it airs September 8th then I am most deffinitally going to watch them. I would love to see what happens there on out
Well, I did some digging and yeah the leaked ending is a fake. McG said that only three people including himself know the ending of the movie. Still, it would have been an interesting ending and would have been a great twist.
The movie rating of PG-13, not surprised. I think that nowadays most movies are tamed. It seems that the only R-rated movies are horror.
Well noone knows what the ending would turn out to be like. The ending you read is basically bogus. It would really be irresponsible for Warner Brothers to let the ending slip just like that without problem. Could you imagine how less sales on the film would be if everyone knew the ending on Terminator 4?
Anyhow I am hyped for Terminator 4. The fact Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't involved kinda hurts the film but it is possible he could reprise his role in 5 or 6.I would also like to see Michael Beihn reprise his role as Kyle Reese but I really wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
I read that she may play the lead villian. Maybe one of the first terminaters made or someone that helps skynet evolve; My guess. They confirmed that she was joining the cast yesterday (06/30/08).
This movie has a good cast to it but if McG doesn't have those directing skills then it could be a waste of talent. I am highly skeptical of McG's involvment with this film. Concidering the past 2 Terminator films were phenominal and number 3 was so so makes me wonder how McG's involvment would effect the film. I think that if James Cameron didn't want to push the films farther and keep it at just 2 Terminator films then his wish should've been accepted.
Now theres a trilogy, hollywood would now just want to push it forward until no more money comes in for it.
Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor (Bale) is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in, is altered in part by Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of mankind.
The story itself sounds pretty decent if you ask me. I am pretty big on terminator and have been a fan ever since I was a little kid. I remembered watching the first 2 on VHS tapes and thought how awsome it really was. I remembered how Terminator 1 scared me kinda due to its dark nature and what not.
Seeing that it has gone up to a number 4 (as well as a TV series) is very good. the fact Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't in this film kinda hurts. If he possibly wasn't governor then things would've been alot different. Also due to Stan Winston's death a few weeks ago possibly hurt production as well. Ever since number 1 Stan Winston has been on the production front helping out with props and effects.
In my book Stan winston was a brilliant mastermind when it came to creature creations. With Sam worthington,Christian Bale, common,Moon Bloodgood and Bryce Dallas howard as Conner's wife could be a promising cast. Rumors of Josh Brolin playing a Terminator sounds pretty unpromising. Also Helena Bonham Carter announced as another cast member yet again has me wondering about the film.
I think the biggest factor was that Paul Haggis was a contributing writer for this film
Well incase you been living under a rock you should notice that the original creator James Cameron has no involvement whatsoever with number 4. He wasn't even involved with number 3 and surprisingly it didn't turn out to be that bad. I thought Johnathan Mostow was a decent director for number 3. He said on the picture in picture experience on the blu Ray disc that he had interrest in doing number 4.
To my suspician is why he wasn't approached. It has me wondering if Mc G would be the perfect candidate for number 4. with films such as Charlies Angels 1 n 2 on his directing list it leaves me skeptical about him jumping to Terminator 4. with a good slate of writers and a decent cast leaves hope that number 4 would be decent. I really do not agree with the casting of Kyle Reese because the kid looks nothing like Micheal Beihn whatsoever.
Also the rumored people to play the Terminator units leaves me wondering if the casting agents know what they are doing? All I hope is that in either Terminator 5 or 6 Arnold Schwarzenegger shows up again.
