Terminator 4 has been on my watch ever since it was announced after Terminator 3. Originally the film was set to be shot back to back alongside Terminator 3 but it was insisted to give the films a gap that way it won't feel rushed. T4 has been under many rewrites due to the fact Arnold Schwarzenegger went in to be governor.
After 5 or so years it is good to finally see this film surface up. The storyline is supposedly set right after Judgement Day and revolves around John Conner and his Wife fighting alongside the resistence against the machines. Supposedly the timeline the film is set in doesn't show the human modeled androids but instead the rubber skinned ones.
This all remains interresting especially to the fact that Christian Bale is set to play john conner. the fact creature creator Stan Winston recently passed kinda bums me out due to the fact he is the one who provided props to all the terminator films. even if production is rushed I am very excited to see this next year.
Well theres no teaser trailer as of yet which means we don't know how the movie would end up like. It could be decent or it could be mediocre but it would still sell. The selling factor would be the visual effects and cast members that are in the film.
No Arnold Schwarzenegger is kinda lame if you ask me. He is governor but is still supportive of the Terminator films more or less. This could be good even if the director of the film wasn't most likely of choices
Christian Bale is literally taking over Hollywood. He is a kick a** Bruce Wayne and I can already picture him being a kick a** John Connor.
As far as the directing goes, McG doesn’t have that impressive a resume, but I’m hoping he can do something with this.
The fact that they are going for a PG-13 rating is a little disappointing, although Live Free or Die Hard turned out pretty good with it, but an R rating would have definitely made it better. Do you remember what Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is rated? I don’t remember it being all that gory.
Terminator 3 was rated R for Sci Fi violence and what not. I actually would've wanted Johnathan Mostow who directed Terminator 3 to direct Terminator 4 instead of Mc G. when I read that 4 would be getting PG-13 my hopes kinda just dropped but the cast members could possibly make this a rather decent film.
Speaking of Terminator I am getting pretty psyched if I told was true that the 2nd season of The Sarah Conner Chronicles airs on Fox Sept 9th. The first season was awsome and highly reccomend anyone to see it if they are terminator fans lik myself.
From what I saw in the trailer shows alot of promise. I can see that the trailer was rushed out due to it being only 54 seconds but that 54 seconds shows alot of promise. Sam Worthington and Christian Bale are a good cast and gives me hope about this film altogether. The fact it is PG-13 bugs me in somewhat kinda way but in the end the movie would possibly turn out to be awesome at best.
No Arnold Schwarzenegger yet again disappoints but theres always hope for him in future installments. Also I looked online and it is said that the 2nd season of The Sara Conner Chronicles would run 22 episodes so that tells me that ALOT of story would be explained in this upcoming season.
Well it does make sense you know. The beginning of the war there werent any Infiltrator units but there were the rubber modeled ones which do show up in this film. Arnolds character wasn't created til towards 2029 when his model was sent to 1984 to assassinate Sara Conner. Seeing a new actor play Kyle Reese was somewhat disappointing. Concidering that the timeline in this film is around 2017 it makes sense to why a new actor was chosen.
The original storyline was rumored waaay back that this 4th installment was to have the spotlight on Kyle Reese and show how he grew up during the war before the events of Terminator 1 took part. It would interrest me alot to see where the series goes after 4 but for now we have season 2 of The Sara Conner Chronicles to look forward to at the time being.
In an update of news it seems that the T-800 character that Arnold played in the past 3 films has been recast. The actor is the same guy who portrayed Arnold Schwarzenegger's younger self in the A&E movie that came out a few years ago. This makes logical sense concidering the timeline the film is set in has the younger version of the T-800.
On the casting front it was wise on the casting director's part to cast someone who is a body builder and has a resemblence to Arnold.
Roland Kickinger is the guy. He's actually going to play a prototype of the T-800. From the picture on the imdb site he looks more like Jean-Claude Van Damme. In one site he's said to play the "evil" terminator and Josh Brolin the "good" one (yet he's incarcerated).
Either way, it does make sense to have someone with the same build as young Arnie. It makes it seem like all the T-800s are built the same; which is probably their intention/reseason for casting him.
In other news... Helena Bonham Carter is playing Serena; from what I read... as the potential villian and ultimately the one that launches skynet.
Oh so she is yet again the bad person. This film seems to me it keeps on getting better and better. It really would appeal to fans but the abscense of Arnold Schwarzenegger just upsets me alot. It would be interresting to see where the franchise goes after this 4th chapter.
"Our idea is to give the film the look of Children of Men but with the velocity of Transformers, we aspire to do to Terminator what Christopher Nolan did with the Batman franchise." - McG
My own thought is only time would tell where the franchise would go. McG so far has a so so record of making films so him doing this is kinda odd. Terminator started off amazing with 1 and 2 but number 3 kinda blew it. Seeing 4 is going to be made by McG raises questions but I hope it is all done right.
T4 has a very impressive cast but if you have a so so director then what good would the cast be? Only time would tell if this series is going up or slowly going down.
This is potentially a hit or miss. It may became a reboot to the franchise or it could spiral into a disaster movie.
Bale has the potential to immortalize himself with two of the most iconic characters in movie history (John Connor & Batman); like Harrison Ford did for Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I'm crossing my fingers that this will be a huge success once the promos start running.
Theres no telling where this film would actually go. The fact it would be PG-13 still crosses my mind but the fact that it is set in the future war holds alot of promise. I can highly predict that number 5 and 6 would focus on the machines building the time machines to send their units through time and what not. I can also predict that in 5 or 6 Arnold Schwarzenegger might appear for a small role or something.
All I know is that it would be awsome it's just I am waiting for season 2 of The Sara Conner Chronicles to appear. Hopefully that would tide me over til Terminator 4 hits theaters.
No worries... hopefully; here's what McG stated about the PG-13 rating at Comic Con:
At both the panel and the press conference, McG removed any doubts that he was under pressure to deliver a PG-13 rating for the film. Referring to the studio executives for this film, McG explained “I’ve been given their blessing to make the picture…and if it’s a rated R picture, then that’s that.” He elaborated that he’s not against the idea of a PG-13 rating, but that the ultimate rating will depend completely upon what the final vision for the film is.
Here is what he stated about Kyle Reese's backstory & 2018 setting:
2018, and the Kyle Reese Backstory Explained - The film will take place in 2018, the first Terminator movie set exclusively post-Judgment Day. It will have aspects of war films, as the humans unite to battle Skynet (which will also be featured). A lot of attention will be given to the T-600s, less advanced versions of the T-800 (the terminator model that Arnold played in the first three films). Given the complex, interweaving, and conflicting timelines in the collective Terminator films and The Sarah Connor Chronicles, McG has opted not to adhere too strictly to the mythology established in these works, but has worked on maintaining the vision of the first films, Cameron’s in particular.
This gives me alot of hope for the film now. All I hope is that it gets the R rating and it stays true to the franchise. Also I hope McG does a good job directing this film because god forbid if he screws this one up.
this film looks good , the one i do not like about it is that Arnold Schwarzenegger isn`t in it and Chirstian Bale is. the film would of been much better with Arnold Schwarzenegger in it.
