    Terminator 4

Terminator 4 has been on my watch ever since it was announced after Terminator 3. Originally the film was set to be shot back to back alongside Terminator 3 but it was insisted to give the films a gap that way it won't feel rushed. T4 has been under many rewrites due to the fact Arnold Schwarzenegger went in to be governor.

After 5 or so years it is good to finally see this film surface up. The storyline is supposedly set right after Judgement Day and revolves around John Conner and his Wife fighting alongside the resistence against the machines. Supposedly the timeline the film is set in doesn't show the human modeled androids but instead the rubber skinned ones.

This all remains interresting especially to the fact that Christian Bale is set to play john conner. the fact creature creator Stan Winston recently passed kinda bums me out due to the fact he is the one who provided props to all the terminator films. even if production is rushed I am very excited to see this next year.

Or maybe you aren't a fan of the franchise? that could narrow it down because usually when a film comes this far it is intended for the fans and not the average movie goer. Take me for example. I hated Xmen Origins. The film may have had good fight sequences but it overall was terribly mediocre. That film was meant for the hardcore fans just like Terminator Salvation was.

I know James Cameron would never come back to the franchise so I just looked past that and thought McG did a pretty good job with the entire film.

X-Men Origins is a poor example...because that movie was bad even for the X-Men fans...me included.

I don't think the problem is people having bad taste in movies...I think the problem is some people don't let others have an opinion....if he thinks it was a bad movie he thinks it was a bad movie. He's entitled to his opinion just like you are...continuing the debate and restating the same things previously stated isn't going to change his mind...is your thread intended only for those that enjoyed it???

I'm a fan of the franchise. Liked Terminator and Terminator 2, even Terminator 3, which is getting a good kicking. So, wrong.

Personally, all the Terminators meant something one way or another and even when the action was pumped up in the second one, it still had some meaning to it.

Terminator 4 feels like a load, crashing thud more than a bang, which is why I feel not only is this not good enough, it doesn't mean anything. Yeah, there's Judgement Day. Yeah, there's John Conner, but it's treated as an excuse to just fill in vacuous amounts of explosions and gunfire. Therefore, fill in the dull, tedious sense of emptiness.

I'm glad you found something to praise about, but me? Let me just shuffle in my.......excuse me....sorry can I lean on your shoulder.....thanks.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I personally think that Terminator Salvation was a good start for a new trilogy. McG directed some so so films in his past and this film is a rather good start for him. I appreciated the fact McG went out of his way and talked to James Cameron about Terminator Salvation before production started on it. James Cameron may have not given his blessing on the project but he shook hands with McG and reccomended Sam Worthington to him on the Avatar set.

That was how Sam Worthington was even able to be in the film was because of James Cameron's reccomendation to McG. For anyone to say Terminator Salvation is bad is basically saying that Xmen Origins is the best in the Xmen series.

Um, that doesn't make sense. How did you come to that comparison? They're both bad.

That doesn't mean that at all

it makes perfect sense you both are just not getting it. What I am saying is that the 2 lowest rated high budgeted films of the summer by far is Terminator Salvation and Xmen Origins(being the much lowest rated).

Well what I am getting at is that for u all to say Terminator Salvation is bad you should all just then say Xmen Origins is the best film in the Xmen films.

No because the people that say Terminator Salvation is bad also says that X-Men Origins was bad...I think Salvation was good and X-Men Origins was bad...but anyways...just cause someone thinks Salvation is bad doesn't mean they think X-Men Origins was the best...they say both of them are bad....is that hard to understand??

yea I guess...I just do not understand why anyone would think Terminator Salvation was THAT bad. Honestly Terminator Rise Of The Machines was waaaay much worse. I thought Salvation was much much better then the 3rd installment and didn't walk out disappointed as I so did with Terminator 3. I thought Terminator Salvation improved upon many areas unlike with number 3.

For one the film had a better storyline which somewhat focused on character development. Christian Bale and Sam Worthington brought alot to the table with their characters I so thought. The visual effects yet again blew me away and left me extremely impressed with it. The audio as well was very solid and loud which I also thought was great.

The same writers who worked on Rise Of The Machines also penned Salvation and honestly thought this was an improvment over number 3.Reason so is because people like Johnathan Nolan read over the script and helped revise it abit. That is how Christian Bale came on board with the project was mainly due to that.

I will go on and say that I am not impressed with McG's idea on going back in time to 2011 and having the rumored setting in post apocalyptic London.

I think it's got to the point now where I will stick to my opinion and you can stick to yours. Personally, I still think that this was a mess of a film made by a half-wit.

The legacy will go like this: "Terminator, ah yeah that was good. Terminator 2 was better. Terminator 3, was alright, not great. Oh wait, there was a fourth one?! Oh sorry, I forgot"

Terminator 4 = bad, X-Men Origins = bad, McG = can't direct, but hey as long as people say it's good and will keep going; guess what? There will be another Terminator film directed by McG. Filmmakers like Terrence Davies who KNOW how to make films will be left in the dark.

    It's depressing beyond belief.

Idk I just think alot of people these days have bad taste in movies. I understand people may not like Transformers 2 but Terminator Salvation? It may have not been as epic as Terminator or Terminator 2 but it was a good damn summer film I may hand it. Also I will go on to say that this is McG's best work yet. I thought this film would've been mediocre but it surprised me to how great Terminator Salvation was.

I guess number 5 and 6 would just be left for the fans(like me) from here on out.

^ mmm, well personally the best thing Tarantino ever did was Jackie Brown, but that didn't make any money so he decided to be self-indulgent.

As with "bad taste" it's subversive to say that because it's nothing to do with bad taste

Jackie Brown was very good...but seeing as how Pulp Fiction is my favorite movie of all time...I guess that would mean I think it's his best lol.

The only thing Terminator Salvation had coming that could disappoint the Terminator fans is the lack of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and even then they put in a small bit with CGI version of him in there. Other than that, it was very much the same to other Terminator films, so I don't see how anyone who liked those can dislike this one. I think people expect too much from it, or maybe their taste in action movies has changed since the time Terminator 2 came out. So yes, all 4 Terminator films are 5-star films for me, even the 3rd and 4th ones.

Terminator 3 was by far the worst one in the series. It was because of that film to why it took nearly 6 years for Terminator Salvation to come out and be reinvented. The fact Arnold wasn't in Terminator Salvation was a complete bummer, but it made up for it with Christian Bale and Sam Worthington being in the film.

The story that took place didn't even have Arnold's character full created yet, so it made sense. It was impressive though that Salvation went into the origin story of the T-800 and also Kyle Reese. Even though John Conner wasn't a big role in the film I still liked how it turned out. It was also impressive seeing the T-600 rubber models and early versions of Skynet's creations being made as well.

Hopefully Terminator 5 will end up showing the T-800's and possibly make Arnold's character much bigger then he was in Salvation. Only time will tell where the series will go from here on out.

Yeah, I wish in T5 and possibly T6 they'd show all the stuff we didn't get to see in the first 3:

    - Kyle Reese and the first T-800 going back in time
    - Second T-800 being reprogrammed by the resistance and sent back at the same time as T-1000
    - Third T-800 killing John Connor, but being captured by his wife, reprogrammed and sent back at the same time as T-X.

I am guessing the first one of those and possibly the second one will be in T5 and the last one will be in T6 where John Connor gets killed but perhaps makes some kind of sacrifice that helps The Resistance win the war or something. Who knows? We'll see. I'm looking forward to those.

Well if director McG is saying is true then Terminator 5 could take place in 2011 as London as it's highly possible landscape where the machines from 2018 are sent back to. McG said that Terminator 5's focus might be strictly on time travel so why not have John Conner along with all of Skynet's machines be sent to 2011?

If you ask me I just think it should press forwards and not backwards...unless the storyline for Terminator 5 is extremely reasonable.

I honestly think Terminator Salvation was extremely far from being a flop. Disappointing to some? yes but deffinitally not a flop. It may have not been on the James Cameron level everyone was possibly hoping for but the overall presentation of the film was pretty good if you ask me.

The number 1 flop has to be Xmen Origins.
