This movie is amazing! It takes place during World War II and is very historically accurate and it isn't boring! Who has watched this movie and what do you think?
The whole fact that Bryan Singer adapted this film based on the real events that occured at that time in Germany, and that he shot alot of it on real location that the conspirator was at gets alot of credit. The fact Tom Cruise plays the part is THE only thing that is making me not want to see it.
I became less of a fan of Tom Cruise after he went public about being a Scientologist and started being stupid with it. I want to see it, it's just I do not like Tom Cruise so that is what is preventing me from watching it.
i also thought this was a great film. honestly, even if you don't like tom cruise for personal reasons or another that doesn't take away from his acting or his movies. there are plenty of other great actors in the film like eddie izzard and bill nighy, so focus on them instead. it's a great film, especially if you are interested in WWII, as it is based on true events.
For me there was no suspense, and I hated that they spoke English...like it starts off with Tom speaking German and goes to English? What a load of shit.
but think about it. if they had german accents then we would just be going on about how badly done the german accents were. i'm not expert but the impression i got was that the beginning started in german so that we understood that the characters were german and then switched into english so we were meant to assume that although we were hearing english, they were speaking german to one another. it's a lot easier than subtitles and is also more encouraging for the audience. i find a lot of people are hesitant to go and see a movie full of subtitles.
i'm actually glad that it wasn't full of action because that wouldn't have been true to what really happened. although some parts of the film are exaggerated from what happened in real life they try to stick close to the events...even the actors, cruise and the rest, look oddly close to the people that they are portraying. there's some good links on youtube that show that actually.
I know a lot of audiences are hesitant to see a film if it has subtitles, and I hate that...its so fucking stupid. If City of God was dubbed in English it would be so dumb, a lot of foreign films are better than the crap hollywood produces nowadays it seems....just wish it had been in German.
I didn't really get into this movie for me the story just went on and on and I didn't take much interest in the story itself.
The acting was alright but I just didn't find the script at all interesting.
