2012 is an upcoming American science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich. The film has an ensemble cast, including John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Woody Harrelson. ; the film is expected to be released worldwide on November 13, 2009.
plot;A global cataclysm occurs which leads to the end of the world and has survivors struggling for their lives. The film is inspired by several hypotheses that state that the ancient Mayans predicted a doomsday event will occur sometime around the 2012 winter solstice.
I think this movie will be 100 % terrible. There is nothing that looks appealing about this movie. John Cusak is overrated, the plot is based off something science hasnt proven. There is no back up info that the 2012 conspiracy will in fact happen so the claims of scientific proof are just plain insane.
I did like other similar films to this like The Day After Tomorrow, but these one man survives the entire disaster because he has the answer films are really starting to piss me off.
Looking at what they showed on tele it looks really good but it could be something like G.I Joe or Transformers 2 they look good and then I will be dissapointed but I still want to go and see this.
Ok, really, this film was disapointing. I'll tell you, nothing innovator. At all.
Surely the special effects are great, 21st century's first decay will have given this (pretty much one of the only things) to cinema. Visuals are great, they keep you on the edge of your seat and the physic concepts are astonishing. Anyway, that was pretty much what I was looking forwoard to see. But I would have enjoyed a little more credibility in the storyline. That aspect sucked, really, it sucked ass!
I even did a contest with my little bro on who would guess the most actions before they actually are done in the movie. I won. But with like 20 points. There's no way of making more a naive American flick than this one. I'm telling you.
2012 pretty much sucked. They masked the weak story with special effects. They ARE making something of a sequel (possibly), and it's going to be a TV series that is based on what happens when the water recedes.
I saw this film a few days ago and I got to admit that this film was pretty disappointing. Not only was the film nearly 3 hours long, but the visual effects it had in it were mostly unecessary. I will admit that the visuals of california being destroyed of an earthquake and yellowstone park being destroyed by a massive volcano were pretty neat.
Concidering this if from the director of Independence Day and Day After Tomorrow, I understand how Roland Emmerich can make some visually impressive destruction based films, but with last years abysmol 10,000 BC he had alot to make up for it.
I surprisingly thought it was good but John Cusack mostly brought nothing to the film. He's a good actor but he didn't do so much for this title. Also the way the film switched perspectives of different survivors just got confusing here and there because it tried to be so involving.
Overall I would reccomend just seeing this if you are into over the top disaster films.
It wasn't confusing, it was just tiring. Not so much because of the switching from chracter to character, but from action scene to abysmal affection. Simply no flow or direction. Maybe Emmerich wanted it like that, it is hard to keep your concentration when it's going to be the END OF THE WORLD! But still he just made a really boring film.
2012 was long and boring. There's really nothing new it brought to the table. The only two actors I liked in the film were Chiwetel Ejiofor and Woody Harrelson.
I found this film decent.
No it wasn't as good as The day after tomorrow but it had some sort of storyline that makes it better than some action films I have seen this year for an example Transformers 2 and G.I Joe.
