Robert Zemeckis directing is reason enough for me to see this film. That and I have always loved this story, seen almost all the adaptations. Looking forward to November 6!
Robert Zemeckis' last film was Beowulf. I remember seeing that at IMAX 3D and it blew me away. The entire presentation of the film just drew me in so knowing that A Christmas Carol is going to be done the same kinda way has me looking forward to it. Robert Zemeckis had a pretty positive movie making career and it's a shame that alot of people didn't like Beowulf.
Have you seen this feature with Zemeckis and Carrey. I also thought Beowulf was really groundbreaking but this interview/footage makes it seem like A Christmas Carol is going to outstanding. Pretty awesome that with the technology Carrey can play such a range of characters, you know?
thought I'd bump this up with a new video. looks like a really honest re-telling, especially all the detail given to the ghosts. Getting a darker vibe, which is appreciated.
I agree with the Carrey excitement. I think with his range, he'll be able to pull off all these characters like few other actors could, you know?
As far as re-tell the story goes, I think that video about Zemeckis' approach to the film, especially the ghosts, shows that this will take on the darker side of Dickens. I mean reliving your past, especially if you have as tormented a history as Scrooge, is something that deserves this kind of new treatment. I'm looking forward to it.
Have you seen this japanese trailer? It shows Carrey's range from humor to more serious scenes when Scrooge shows his evil and remorseful sides. From what I have seen, he is doing the character justice - interested to see Scrooge's full evolution and the Ghosts of course.
Robert Zemeckis is back with another animated movie??
Beowulf was such a disaster though.
Don't get me wrong, the animation is incredible and i will watch this movie...just i dunno if he will portray this movie well, like he really screwed over Grendal in Beowulf soooo.
I think this story lends itself to motion capture. The idea of revisiting your past all in one night guided by ghosts gives a lot of opportunities to use special effects.
From all the footage that I have seen and the exhibits on the train tour, I think the characters are in line with how I imagined them from the book.
Oldman is an awesome addition. Have you seen this clip with him and Scrooge? (Gary is Cratchit in this clip, but he also plays Jacob Marley AND Tiny Tim)
I am excited to seeing Jim Carrey in a Christmas movie again. The Grinch is my (only) favorite modern Christmas movie. I don't know why but I've never liked the other adaptations of A Christmas Carol so I hope this time it'll be different. It probably will, though. Carrey has never let me down.
My mother does want to see this one in cinemas so I may see it with her soon and I hope they don't mess this film up and hope it will be really entertaining.
